The 49-Mile Drive shows you a lot of the San Francisco scenic attractions. It is a trail marked by blue and white seagull signs and you will see many of sights following this route. It starts at Hayes Street and Van Ness Avenue, at the Civic Center in downtown San Francisco
Alcatraz Island

You can get to Alcatraz on a ferry that leaves every half-hour all year long. There are also bay cruises that circle the island. This is the site of the maximum-security prison. It is located on a rocky island out in the bay and it makes an interesting sightseeing excursion. Reservations recommended.

Lombard Street was built in 1920 and is known as the "Crookedest Street in the World." This has eight angles along a single block. It is a 40-degree descent down the brick-lined street and there are always a lot of tourists in the area that come to see this sight.

Angel Island State Park sits in the middle of the San Francisco Bay. You can climb to the top of Mount Caroline Livermore. It is a 781-foot high summit at this wonderful area that became a State Park in 1958. There are no lifeguards on the island and swimming may be difficult, but the scenery is wonderful.

Things to see and do around Golden Gate are numerous. Take a walk in Marina Green or walk along the Golden Gate Promenade, which will take you 3 and 1/2 miles from Aquatic Park to the Golden Gate Bridge. Be sure to visit the Palace of Fine Arts. You could spend hours seeing all there is.
